Berwick Meditation Group
"The personal benefits of meditation are limitless – calmness, clarity, contentment, refreshment. But the benefits are not just ours. By cultivating these qualities we are also bringing into the world the qualities that it most needs if it is to survive its current predicament."

A Warm Welcome for All

Visitors and new members will be warmly welcomed at our weekly silent meditation sessions.

Open Space

Our Open Space is an opportunity for you to practise with other meditators. Our only expectations are to observe silence and respect our safe space, with consideration for others.

Your Practice

We recognise that there are many forms of meditation practice including focusing on the breath, contemplation, visualisation, mantra repetition, body sweeping, mindfulness, reflection, development of insight and loving kindness.

Friday Afternoons

We meet every Friday afternoon at The Parish Centre, which is off The Parade, opposite Holy Trinity Church. We are close to town for convenience but secluded enough to provide an appropriate atmosphere.

Sessions

Friday afternoon at The Parish Centre, Berwick-upon-Tweed, from 5pm to 6pm.

Guidelines & Support

Suggestions

  • Commit, where possible, to meditating with the group
  • Support each other's meditation practice
  • Try to establish a regular meditation routine at home

Please Remember

  • Meditation is not a substitute for therapy
  • The group is not qualified to offer teaching on meditation
  • The group respects each member's views and beliefs
  • The group observes confidentiality

Support

  • Meditation can bring dormant or previously unprocessed thoughts and feelings to the surface. Should you attend any of our sessions and feel it helpful to process thoughts afterwards we hope that you will find members of the group supportive. We aim to listen sympathetically to issues you may wish to raise. We can also offer suggestions for further support from external agencies if this is necessary.
